February 6th - March 4th, 2017
Opening ceremony : February 6th, 6pm
Discussion with Dana Wyse: February 6th, 4pm
Since 1997, Dana Wyse launches her operations through her front pharmaceutical company Jesus Had A Sister Productions. In her workshop, she produces pills and remedies that promise to realize our deepest dreams, as any good dealer would. Sold at an affordable price, these miraculous solutions can be found in museum shops, supermarkets and online.
The industrial-like production and the mass-commercialization of these "products" question the artist's social position and the value of this artwork. The artistic company Jesus Had A Sister Productions integrates art to the everyday reality of economic life. Using business language, the company looks at social stereotypes, norms, models and thought processes.
In the exhibition, Dana Wyse presents a selection of eighteen photographs assorted two-by-two. Other pills are also displayed in their original packaging in a showcase.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the company, the artist will distribute 100 free pills during the opening ceremony.
The exhibition is organized in collaboration with the national non-profit France-Canada which will also display events linked to the exhibition within its walls in February.
Born in 1965 in Vancouver, Canada, Dana Wyse is a Canadian writer and visual artist. She is well-known internationally and has had her work exposed all over Canada and Europe. Her pills and remedies are sold in the shops of major museums. In 2007, she published the bestseller How To Turn Your Addiction to Prescription Drugs into a Successful Art Career (Editions du Regard). Dana Wyse is part of the dynamic of the Art&Flux (ACTE) research team.
