| Description: | As a follow-up to the activities of the Bicentenary of the abolition of the slave trade by the Parliament of the United Kingdom (1807), and to commemorate the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition (August 23), the Liverpool Museum made a gift to UNESCO of a gallery of 36 panels on the touring exhibition “The Transatlantic Slavery Gallery”. It is inaugurated on 22 July 2008 in the presence of the persons in charge of the museum of Liverpool, of the permanent delegates, in particular of the Permanent Delegation of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland at UNESCO.
