November 30th, 2013 - January 18th, 2014
Opening on November 30th, 2013 from 6 to 9 pm
Galerie Chantal Crousel is pleased to announce its sixth exhibition by Mona Hatoum, celebrating twenty years of collaboration with the artist. For this exhibition she will showcase recent works whose scale and medium shall vary, from the large glass and iron cages of Cellules, to intimate works on paper including her own hair. The artist pursues her study of everyday objects, modifying their use to give them a strangeness as troubling as it is fascinating. The new works - all in transparencies - invite the visitor into an original personal landscape where the relation to the body and the experience of exile are always at stake.
Several solo exhibitions by Mona Hatoum are ongoing or soon to come : Kunstmuseum St.Gallen, Switzerland (until January 12th, 2014), Mathaf Museum, Qatar (February 2014), Centre Pompidou (2015). Her work Hair Necklace is presented at the moment within the exhibition Le Surréalisme et l'objet at the Centre Pompidou until the 3rd of March 2014.
