NorthernWood Films are cycling to Cannes in a quest to get ORANGE FEVER The Movie made.
From Brighouse To Cannes it's LE TOUR DE TAN: http://letourdetan.com/
ORANGE FEVER The Movie is a feature film about two regular northern lads on a mission to find love. They try every trick in the book, from salsa dancing to singing to fake tanning. It's Men Behaving Badly for the Facebook generation, imagine American Pie but set around a tanning salon in Yorkshire and you're halfway there..
Anyway, this May the NorthernWood Films team are embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime against-all-the-odds publicity stunt - cycling from Brighouse, the home of Orange Fever, all 783 miles to the world's most glamorous film festival.
Please join us at this VIP party, as Dom arrives in Cannes for an Orange Carpet reception on La Croisette. (Location is under wraps, will be revealed when you click attending).
Expect a screening of LE TOUR DE TAN (our road trip film), free drinks, food, the best of the UK's independent film industry, and a couple of surprises ahead of the production of the film..
Space Travel is a reality and speaks to the minds of many. Already over 500 people purchased a 200.000 $ ticket to go space with Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Galactic, the worlds first commercial space liner. With celebrities like Aston Kutcher, Stephen Hawking, Michael Schumacher and Victoria Principal already signing up it's time to connect the International Film Industry to Space and vice versa during an exciting, most âOut-of-the-boxâ Astronaut Party.
Time and place will be the luscious villa Oxygen on the Riviera's hotspot Cannes on Saturday May 19, 2012.
Celebrities, venture capitalists and future astronauts will find themselves in the midst of other inspired people. International fashion designer Addy van den Krommenacker (Tyra Banks, Anna Rawson, April Sutton), will show his couture collection on space travel. Dancers of the National Ballet of Limoges (France), Tuscany (Italy) and Holland's prime time television programme âSo you think you can danceâ will provide a unique intergalactic dance performance, powered by Diego Cosignani Productions. Three time ISS astronaut Jean-Francois Clervoy will speak. And of course there will be space bubbles.
Organizer Richard Nilsson trusts this to be the party where many people will talk about. Nilsson: âYou simply can't afford to miss it. I have many years of experience in organizing cutting edge art & cinematic events combining arts, fashion and music to an orgy of entertainment. But this will simply be the best party of the Film Festival.â
âThe challenge is to consider what space travel will contribute to our societyâ say Jean-Luc Wibaux & Ronald Heister, both Accredited Space Agents for Virgin Galactic. âWe need affordable space travel to inspire our youth, to let them know that they can experience their dreams, can set significant goals and be in a position to lead all of us to future progress in exploration, discovery and funâ.
Asghar Farhadi â first winner of the EU MEDIA prize, 65th Cannes Film Festival
The Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, Ms Androulla Vassiliou, will award the first EU MEDIA prize to the Iranian director Asghar Farhadi at the Cannes Film Festival.
Asghar Farhadi, known in Europe and throughout the world for his films âAbout Ellyâ (which won a Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival in 2009) and âA Separationâ (which won a Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival in 2011 and the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film in 2012), and the producer Alexandre Mallet-Guy (Memento Films Production) will be awarded the EU MEDIA prize for their new project which will be filmed in France in French next autumn.
âI am proud to give this award to Mr Farhadi today for this film project which has a strong cultural identity and illustrates the openness of European culture, which I defend daily. After the worldwide success of his masterpiece âA Separationâ, he gives us a project which is committed and moving in equal measure and above all draws on universality" said Ms Vassiliou.
Asghar Farhadi said, âIn these times when certain politicians are trying to turn the beautiful rainbow of cultural diversity in the world into differences and confrontations, I believe that this MEDIA award for my next film project is a very encouraging sign. I would therefore like to warmly thank the MEDIA programme, and commend it for its lucid and open vision of mutual and respectful exchanges between cultures.â
